Speck’s Candyshell Wrap for iPad 2 Review (Deal!)

MSRP: $54.95
Deal: $26.99
After Apple’s release of the shiny new iPad, my search for a good overall case began. I liked Apple’s Smart Cover but wanted something that would offer full body protection as well as incorporate the smart cover design, I tried a few different cases and other iterations of the Smart cover at the start but nothing really was that great, Until the new Candyshell Wrap caught my eye. So I picked one up for only $26.99 through Datavis.com! Be sure to use the code “DATAVIS5” for $5 off at checkout. Please note this price is before estimated shipping; don’t worry its cheap.
Positives:
The case features some cool additions to Speck’s Candyshell Wrap for the original iPad. The quality of this case is great and is what we have come to know from Speck’s product line. It’s a good solid product. It offers good shock absorption from the unique “rubbery” design on the inside of the cover and case. It offers the same stand functionality of Apple’s Smart Cover and is also removable! If you don’t like the extra bulk or holding the cover with your hand then simply slide it off. Brilliant. This is nice because the iPad has whole body protection regardless of whether the cover is attached or not. It also offers a dock flap that can be flipped up to easily work with the iPad Dock.
Negatives:
Due to the high glossy finish of this case it can easily attract scratches. This would usually bother me but it doesn’t with this case because of its dark black color. It also increases the weight of the iPad by a good noticeable bit that I can see bothering some people. The cover adheres to the screen of the iPad via a “tacky” strip which could have been made better considering it doesn’t always work properly like a magnetic one would have.
Overall:
For this price you can’t go wrong with it. Great design and functionality. Good job Speck! I’d give it a 4 out of 5 and would gladly recommend it to any person looking for something close to the smart cover with more protection
