****MOST RECENT UPDATE AS OF 6/24/09****
Obtained a call from Sharp this evening which went very well. Huge thanks to the Sharp team and specific individual I spoke to for reaching out to me with a solution that will once and for all close out this problem and solve my situation within a reasonable time frame. Again, thank you to the Sharp team for stepping up to the plate and providing great customer service!
***UPDATE 6/22/09*** See details below - Sharp Aquos Television is still not working and looks like it needs to be pulled into the shop to determine why. Unfortunately I had an interesting and rather RUDE call with a Sharp agent just now who laughed at me on the phone. Not a real good way to approach an unhappy customer.
As of 6/24/09 I am still awaiting a call to let me know what happens next, until then my TV is still dead.
***UPDATE*** My faith in Sharp is being restored, I have obtained a call from Sharp and they are making good. I am thankful to them for working through this with me. But I am grateful for their show of good customer service! I recently got another call from Sharp indicating the part for repair was being sent overnight to the shop so it’s looking like I will not be out of service for very long. Thank you!
Those who know me would say I am a pretty fair guy. I think things through and give everyone a fair shake at the end of the day but I was impacted by something recently that I can’t let go unaddressed and I figured what better place to share my situation than with the community of Metagamers.
As we are all gamers here we need something to game on right? Usually when Television shopping the 3 big brand names that come up are Sharp Aquos, Samsung and Sony Bravia. All of these three manufacturers command a higher price tag than others on the market because they are supposed to offer a higher level of quality, longevity and service.
Taking this into consideration I saved up my hard earned cash and after numerous discussions with my wife was finally able to settle that the Sharp Aquos lc-46d64u would be the TV of choice and I purchased it directly from Sharp.
I have had this TV for 1 year and 9 months now however combined TV usage time totals less than 4 to 5 months TOPS. I have keep this television in pristine condition, dusted on a regular basis, plugged into a surge protector and I even still have the original box it came in!
This is the television that I use to game on, that I report back reviews and impressions for Metagamers. When the TV was working it was great, the colors, the richness, the way games became larger than life.
However, this is where the love fest ends.
